The Charta of Diversity was initiated in 2006 by DaimlerChrysler, the Deutsche Bank, the Deutschen BP and the Deutsche Telekom. The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr Angela Merkel is the patron of this initiative. The German Government Representative for Migration, Refugees and Integration, Minister of State Prof. Dr Maria Böhmer approves and supports the initiative. The diversity of modern society, influenced by globalization and demographic change, shapes the economy in Germany. We only can be economically successful if we can sense and use the existing diversity. That covers the diversity of our personnel and the diverse needs of our customers as well as our business associates. The diversity of our personnel with their different skills and talents creates chances for innovative and creative solutions. The realization of the Charta of Diversity in our company has the aim to create a work environment that is free of prejudice. Every employee should experience appreciation – regardless of the sex, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion or ideology, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity. The acknowledgment and encouragement of those various potentials creates economically advantages for our company. We create an environment of acceptance and reciprocative respect. That has a positive impact on our reputation with our business associations in Germany as well as in the other countries around world.
